Mijas, a white mountain village and a coastal strip in one municipality

Mijas is really two worlds in one: the famous white mountain village of Mijas Pueblo, and the coastal strip of Mijas Costa, including La Cala de Mijas. Between mountain and sea you'll find homes for a wide range of budgets here.

Location and character

Where Mijas is and what makes it special

Mijas Pueblo sits high against the mountain, with views over the whole coast as far as Africa on a clear day. Mijas Costa, including La Cala de Mijas, lies on the sea between Fuengirola and Marbella, and has grown considerably in recent years as a residential and holiday destination.

What life is like here

Touristy village, quiet coast

Mijas Pueblo is one of the best-known white villages in Andalusia and draws visitors daily, with souvenir shops, donkey taxis, and viewpoints. Residents, however, also find a quiet, close-knit community once the day-trippers leave.

Mijas Costa, and La Cala de Mijas in particular, has developed into a popular coastal town with its own village centre, a long promenade, and several golf courses close by.

The municipality is one of the few on the Costa del Sol where you can choose between an authentic mountain village and a modern coastal home without leaving the municipal border.

Hospitality in the mountain village

In Mijas Pueblo, craft shops, terraces, and restaurants with real history sit side by side along narrow, flower-filled streets.
